Silversea: Silver Shadow

14-night Caribbean Cruise from $6050

Authentic experiences. Simple pleasures. Shared moments. Silversea's Millennium Class luxury cruise ships Silver Shadow and Silver Whisper offer you freedom and space to design your day. Slightly larger in size than ships Silver Cloud and Silver Wind, Silver Shadow retains Silversea's essence – spacious suites, a complement of only 388 guests, superior service – paired with a lively cosmopolitan atmosphere and enhanced amenities. Aboard the Silver Shadow, energize body and soul with complimentary Pilates and yoga in the expanded fitness center. Savour fine wines and French gastronomy in La Dame, enjoy authentic Italian cuisine in La Terrazza, or simply gaze at endless ocean views from The Grill. Not forgetting the regional-inspired The Restaurant, dining at sea has never been so good.

Originally a fort built by the U.S. Army in 1838, during the Second Seminole War, Ft. Lauderdale has little left of its warlike past. Instead the city welcomes visitors with broad beaches and an easy pace of life, plus convenient air and water connections that make the city a perfect place to visit.

Montserrat

12/8/2024 9:00:00 AM

12/8/2024 11:00:00 PM

Tiny Montserrat gave the world a glimpse of the raw power of nature in 1995 when tts volcano erupted. Find lush flora in the forests, woods and hills. Bird life is busy, with thrashers, cuckoos, bananaquits, heron, cattle egrets, kingfishers and three species of hummingbird. All but one of the beaches are black volcanic sand, and diving among coral reefs on the north coast is excellent. Nature trails supervised by Montserrat’s forest rangers reveal the diversity of the island’s tropical plant and animal life, and guides take visitors to see the impact of both ancient and recent volcanic eruptions. Known as the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean, Montserrat has some surprising links with Ireland – not a country known for its colonizing campaigns. Their legacies are the many Irish place-names, the public holiday on St Patrick’s Day, the faint echoes of an Irish accent in the local dialect and the Irish harp on the island’s postage stamps. The island continues to offer a serene contrast to more glitzy, crowded destinations, and the islanders offer visitors the friendliest welcome they will ever find.

Iles des Saintes

12/9/2024 8:00:00 AM

12/9/2024 9:00:00 PM

Pastoral and far off the beaten track, the Saintes are a cluster of eight islands off the southern coast of Guadeloupe. In Bourg, the charming hamlet on Terre-de-Haut, the largest isle, you can wander peaceful streets past small houses, then follow the narrow road out of town through fields and hills to a sweeping strand of secluded beach.

Basse Terre, Guadeloupe

12/11/2024 8:00:00 AM

12/11/2024 6:00:00 PM

Basse-Terre is Guadeloupe's capital and more scenic of the country's main butterfly shaped island. Visitors can travel along the coasts or into the national park, an ecological spread covering one-fifth of Guadeloupe's total terrain. The park has a lush rain forest, a sparkling waterfall and pond, and a zoo and botanical garden. It also has a rum museum and working sugar factory. There are miles of white-sand beaches, and offshore Pigeon Island is suitable for diving. From Basse-Terre there are great views of La Soufriere, a dormant volcano located seven miles away. For active visitors, Guadeloupe offers practically every sport imaginable, including golf, tennis, squash, biking, hiking horseback riding, scuba diving, sailing, snorkeling, windsurfing, deep-sea fishing, water skiing, yachting and plenty of spectator sports. Those who love to party will find nightclubs and discos in most large hotels and the island's casinos. Guadeloupe is called one of the culinary capitals of the Caribbean.

Gustavia

12/12/2024 8:00:00 AM

12/12/2024 10:00:00 PM

There was never any hope of lucrative sugar plantations in St.Barths. It was too dry, too steep, too rocky, and, finally, too small. Unsuitable for agriculture, the island was never coveted as a prize during the colonial wars of the 18th century. The place had a serviceable harbor, and this allowed the town that grew around it, Gustavia, to play a key role in that intermittent conflict, a role that was to presage much of its future. Overflowing warehouses surrounded a harbor packed with ships from many nations, and a mercantile and architectural tradition was established that has lingered to the present day. Today, Gustavia has adjusted itself to satisfy the increasing number of visiting tourists. Restaurants, boutiques, and gift shops now line streets once busy with merchants, merchant seamen, and adventurers.

Jost Van Dyke

12/13/2024 8:00:00 AM

12/13/2024 11:00:00 PM

Jost Van Dyke boasts several lovely beaches and picturesque Great Harbour, with its beach-side West Indian village. Jost is very popular with sailors and has several famous watering holes on its southern shore, including Foxy's Tamarind Bar.

St. Thomas (Charlotte Amalie)

12/14/2024 7:00:00 AM

12/14/2024 4:00:00 PM

There are many ways to hunt for treasure in St. Thomas. You can discover its historic wealth in such places as the birthplace of painter Camille Pissarro or the infamous Bluebeard's Tower. Its sporting riches are tennis, golf, sailing and incredible beaches. Beneath its crystal-clear waters, you'll find coral gardens and shimmering schools of jewel-colored fish. Its fortune of earthly treasures can be found in the many shops of Charlotte Amalie, where savings on jewels, crystal, perfume and fine wines will arouse your hunting instincts.
