Oslo, Norway’s capital and largest city, is encircled by wooded hills and snowcapped peaks. The city displays a mixture of several architectural styles. While in Lysekil visitors interested in marine life can visit "Havets Hus" (The House of the Ocean), which is a marvelous aquatic museum that has most of the different ocean animals and plants living around Lysekil's coast. Visitors looking to relax will find several pleasant beaches including Pinnevik; a sandy beach suitable for families. Faaborg is one of the oldest medieval towns in Denmark. Kiel is a city in north central Germany, in Schleswig-Holstein, a port on the Baltic Sea, at the eastern entrance of the Kiel Canal. In World War I the city was the headquarters of the German Imperial Fleet, and in World War II its important naval base was heavily bombed by the Allies. Scheveningen has been a well-known tourist destination for more than a century. At the turn of the last century, people from far and away would travel to the sea for health reasons and cures. The Kurhaus, or 'cure house', now a splendid hotel, still bears witness to this period in time. Over the last few years Scheveningen has undergone extensive renovations, including the development of new facilities along the promenade, a casino, a theater, a mega-cinema, a Pier and indoor shopping center. Scheveningen boasts excellent accessibility and is only 10 minutes away from The Hague, the museums and the miniature village of Madurodam. Guernsey is the second largest island and its capital, St. Peter Port, was truly put on the map in 1855 when Victor Hugo was exiled from France and made his home at Hauteville House where he wrote Les Miserables.
