It’s been called “a city that works.” As the capital of Ontario and Canada’s largest city, Toronto has become a dynamic cosmopolitan hub known for entertainment, culture, sports, high fashion and big business. The city boasts more than 20,000 retail stores and restaurants. Yet for such a large city (current population is 4.4 million) it is miraculously clean, safe and friendly. Tourists are drawn to the charm of the Lake Ontario waterfront district, the high-rise splendor of the popular Yonge Street, and the trendy shops and quaint cafés along College Street and Queen Street. Kangerlussuaq Fjord

Kangerlussuaq is a long Fjord just north of the polar circle, in western Greenland. This Fjord is unique because if its nature and rich biodiversity. The surrounding landscape features glaciers that feed into the Fjord, as well as plains covered in plants, wildflowers, and greenery. The Fjord is also home to a number of wildlife including musk ox, reindeer, and arctic foxes. Visitors are in for a treat when visiting this beautiful region of Greenland.

Manitsoq, meaning "the rugged place," is just that, with it's high mountains and deep fjords. In the summer, angling is a popular activity as well as hiking, kayaking or sailing through the glacier filled fjords. Visitors can also enjoy skiing throughout the extensive mountain networks. A visit to the Manitsoq museum includes archaeological exhibits, paintings, handcrafts, and sculptures capturing the significance of Manitsoq's past.

Nuuk was founded by the unfailingly optimistic Hans Egede - the Danish missionary with soul-conversions on his mind - who promptly named the settlement Good Hope. Today Nuuk is small by modern standards, with a total population of only 14,000. Despite a wealth of land and a paucity of people, Nuuk has insisted on housing the population in immense apartment blocks with imaginative names like Blok P - a kind of Gulag on ice - and the urban sprawl is now spreading out along the road to the airport. Kolonihavnen is a pleasant exception to the rest of Nuuk's Lego-city look: it's a picturesque 18th-century fishing village in the heart of Nuuk and gives some idea of what the town looked like before the industrial harbour was built. Nuuk's real attraction lies in its proximity to any number of excellent day hikes into the hinterland and the fabulous views from the tops of the nearby mountains. Organised tours, boat trips and the rental of equipment is easier from the capital.

Dundas Harbour is a quiet harbor on Devon Island where hawks nest, muskoxen graze and walrus can be spotted just off shore. This abandoned Qikiqtaaluk settlement in Nunavut was first established in 1924 as an outpost to curb foreign whaling, and the ruins of a few buildings remain along with one of the northernmost cemeteries in the world.

This modern cosmopolitan city of Calgary was once home to Blackfoot Indians for at least hundreds of years. Fort Calgary came into existence as a Northwest Mounted Police settlement in 1875, and Canadian Pacific Railway arrived in 1883. With the close railway, Calgary became a transportation and meatpacking hub. The world-renowned Calgary Exhibition and Stampede has been held since 1912. A museum worth a visit is Glenbow Museum and Art Gallery. The Calgary Tower offers a first class view of Calgary area. It is a landmark symbol that became well known during the 1988 Winter Olympics - when a flame burned from the top. Besides an observation gallery, there is a revolving restaurant and cocktail lounge. Canada Olympic Park houses many facilities used for the 1988 Winter Olympics. The Olympic Hall of Fame is a museum paying tribute to the Olympics and its athletes. Heritage Park Historical Village authentically portrays life in a typical town of Canadian west prior to 1914. Calgary Zoo is one of the best in North America.
